2023 National Tournaments Return Stronger After Pandemic Hiatus
After a challenging three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Uganda Little League Baseball has successfully resumed its national tournaments with record participation. The 2023 season saw over 2,000 young athletes from across Uganda competing in regional and national championships.
The tournaments, held in May 2023, marked a significant milestone in our recovery and growth. For the first time, we had equal participation from girls' and boys' teams, with the girls' division seeing a 40% increase in participation compared to pre-pandemic levels.
"This isn't just about baseball returning," said Executive Director Richard Stanley. "It's about hope returning to these communities. These children have been through so much, and to see them back on the field, smiling, competing, and dreaming again—that's what this is all about."
