About LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL UGANDA

For over two decades, we have been breaking barriers and building dreams through America's pastime. Our journey from a single meeting in 2002 to serving thousands of children across Uganda is a testament to the power of sport to transform lives.

Our History & Journey

From humble beginnings to historic achievements, follow our timeline of growth and impact in Ugandan baseball.

2002

The Beginning

Uganda Little League Baseball was founded following a meeting between Richard Stanley and PR.Vivian Masembe. What began as a vision to bring baseball to Ugandan children started taking shape with the first organized activities.

2004

First Tournaments

We organized our first national tournaments, creating a competitive platform for young players across Uganda. This marked the beginning of structured baseball development in the country.

2008

International Debut

Uganda made history as the first African team to compete in a European tournament in Kutno, Poland. This international exposure opened doors for future global participation.

2012

Historic World Series

The Mehta Little League team became the first African team to qualify for the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Despite visa challenges in previous years, the team made it and received the Sportsmanship Award.

2020-Present

Expansion & Recovery

After navigating the challenges of the pandemic, we resumed tournaments in May 2023 and continue to expand our reach. Today, we serve over 15,000 children across Uganda with plans to reach 30,000+ in the coming years.

Our Mission & Vision

We believe in the transformative power of baseball to develop character, discipline, and opportunity for Uganda's youth.

Our Mission

To develop Little League Baseball throughout Uganda by providing access to equipment, quality coaching, and competitive opportunities that foster athletic excellence, educational achievement, and personal growth for all children regardless of background or circumstance.

Our Vision

To become the premier youth sports organization in East Africa, recognized for developing not only elite baseball talent but also future leaders who embody the values of teamwork, integrity, and perseverance both on and off the field.

Our Values

Inclusion: Baseball for all children
Integrity: Playing by the rules, on and off the field
